AVAC: Terms of Use, Participation, Privacy Policy, League Information, and Core Values

These Terms of Use, Participation, Privacy Policy, League Information, and Team Core Values (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the AVAC websites, digital platforms, programs, services, teams, events, communications, and activities (collectively, “AVAC,” “AVAC United,” “AVAC Youth Sports and Mentorship,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By accessing the Site, registering, enrolling, volunteering, donating, attending, coaching, mentoring, or otherwise participating, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Organizational Purpose
AVAC Youth Sports and Mentorship is a community-based youth development organization providing athletic, educational, and mentorship programming. AVAC United supports league teams including the Hoyas and Lady Hoyas and promotes integrity, discipline, teamwork, safety, and community engagement.
2. Acceptance of Terms
Use of the Site or participation in any AVAC activity constitutes acceptance of these Terms. If you do not agree, do not access the Site or participate.
3. Website Access and Acceptable Use
You may use AVAC platforms for lawful, informational, and personal purposes only. You agree not to:
Use the Site for unlawful purposes
Attempt unauthorized access to systems or data
Interfere with functionality or security
Upload malicious code, malware, or spam
Misrepresent identity or affiliation
AVAC may suspend or terminate access at its discretion.

Content is informational only and does not constitute legal, medical, financial, or professional advice.
5. Eligibility and Participation
Participation is subject to eligibility requirements. Minors require parental or legal guardian consent. AVAC may deny, suspend, or revoke participation at its discretion.
6. Code of Conduct and Core Values
Participants, families, coaches, volunteers, mentors, and attendees must act respectfully and uphold values of integrity, inclusion, accountability, sportsmanship, safety, and community respect. Violations may result in removal without refund.
7. Assumption of Risk
Participation involves inherent risks. You knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks.
8. Release and Waiver of Liability (California)
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release and hold harmless AVAC from claims arising from participation except for gross negligence or willful misconduct, and expressly waive California Civil Code §1542.
9. Medical Authorization
You authorize AVAC to obtain emergency medical treatment and accept financial responsibility for such care.
10. Fees, Donations, and Refunds
All fees, registrations, purchases, and donations are final and non-refundable unless required by law or stated otherwise in writing.
11. Media Release
You grant AVAC permission to use photos, video, recordings, and likenesses for organizational and promotional purposes without compensation.
12. Information We Collect
We collect personal information including:
Participants (from parents/guardians)
Name, date of birth, address, parent/guardian contact information, emergency contacts, and relevant medical or health information.
Volunteers and Personnel
Legal name, date of birth, address, contact information, photo ID numbers, and Social Security numbers for background screening.
Payments
Handled by secure third-party processors; we do not store full payment details.
Electronic Data
IP addresses and usage data for security and analytics.

Conduct background checks
Process payments and donations
Comply with law
14. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell personal data. We share only:
With consent
With authorized staff and volunteers
With vetted service providers

We do not post PII publicly without explicit consent.
15. Children’s Privacy (COPPA / CalOPPA)
We obtain parental consent before collecting data from children under 13 online. Parents may review, delete, or refuse further collection.

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information.
17. Consumer Rights
California residents may request access, correction, deletion, and disclosures under CCPA/CPRA, CalOPPA, and COPPA.
18. User Submissions
By submitting content, you grant AVAC a non-exclusive right to use it for operations and represent you have authority.

All AVAC content is owned by or licensed to AVAC.

AVAC is not responsible for third-party sites.
21. Disclaimer
Services are provided “as is.”
22. Limitation of Liability
AVAC is not liable for damages arising from participation or site use to the fullest extent allowed by law.
23. Volunteers and Mentors
Volunteers may be screened, approved, trained, or removed.
24. Program Changes
Programs and schedules may change or be canceled.
25. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold AVAC harmless.
26. Governing Law and Venue
California law governs. Venue lies exclusively in California courts.
27. Severability
Invalid provisions do not affect the remainder.
28. Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement.
